Starting a new business can be exhilarating. Opportunities are plentiful, resources are readily available and there’s no shortage of experts willing to offer advice on what to do and how to do it. And, of course, there's a world to be saved by your idea!!Best of all, getting a startup started up these days, is pretty easy to do.

What often gets omitted from the business startup story, however, is that starting up is usually the easiest bit. It's growing and sustaining a business that very often trips us up. Long-term survival rates are very low and the subsequent personal, professional, social, economic and environmental costs, are often very high.So we know that getting started is easy. Beyond that, well, not so much.

what are we missing here?

Given all of the knowledge, expertise, education and experience we have access to these days, why are things still so tough for so many SMEs? And what aren't we seeing that makes it so difficult for startups to stay started up?The reality is that despite countless studies to better understand the problem, we have very few answers. If we did, the problem wouldn't exist.
